Important message from Dr. Richard L Lepard

If you don't act soon, you will lose remaining 2010 Insurance Benefits! Your flex benefits may vanish too! Here's what to do: Plus how you can save on your dental care.

individual-dental-insurance-plansBelieve it or not, our very own patients lost over $500,000 in dental insurance benefits last year. Add FLEX benefits (flexible health care spending accounts) and that number almost doubles! How could it be that honest, hard-working people could lose about one million dollars that were meant for them?

Well, it's actually fairly simple. Dental benefit plans and flex plans do NOT allow you to "roll over" any unused benefit dollars beyond December 31st of the current year. For example, if you have $500 of benefits left, and you don't use them to help pay for your dental treatment by the end of this year, you will lose $500 that you could have applied toward your dental care--just by getting it done in 2010.

You've got to "use it or lose it" ...Call by Wednesday, December 1st, 2010 and receive $100 credit to use towards dental treatment completed by December 30th. (call for exact details to see if you qualify) Your appointment can be anytime between now and December 30th!

Loss of teeth and learning to wear dentures can be a very difficult process for patients.  Loss of taste, learning to chew again, and simply living with conventional dentures is a challenge.

Technological advances in dental implant therapy now can give you a second chance to be able to chew, function, and taste without loose dentures.  The denture on the upper jaw can be made without the roof of your mouth being covered.  This helps you enjoy the taste and texture of food like you used to!  The lower denture is literally locked into position giving the feel of real teeth.  Imagine chewing again without your denture moving, and no more sore spots!

In summary, locked in dentures, also known as “All on 4” dentures, is the best way to go from loose or bulky dentures to ones that are literally locked into place with no denture glue necessary.  A consultation to see if you are a candidate is your next step.  Having the ability to enjoy your food and not be embarrassed by your dentures is like a new lease on life.

Gum DiseaseIt is a known fact that 2 out of 3 adults over the age of 50 have some form of gum disease. Known as the silent killer of teeth due to its non-painful, insidious progression in promoting tooth loss, many have no idea they have it. When infected teeth loosen to the point of failure due to gum disease and start to hurt, the battle is already lost. Choices are limited or non-existent with tooth removal as the only option.

The take home lesson is this: Never let gum disease get established in your mouth. The long term effect on your general health is potentially life threatening!

The Good News: Its containment and early treatment by a qualified dentist keeps you, the patient, from experiencing the health problems that are associated with periodontal (gum) disease. Healthcare has made great strides in extending lives. Prevention and early treatment of the inflammatory process of gum disease is one of the major advancements to that end!
