With the election results in I am getting questions from my patients on how the new healthcare plan will affect your dental care. My frank answer is I do not know at this time- and that is problematic for all of us.

That being said, my best recommendation is according to your current status. If you have dental benefits remaining and it is important to you to use them be sure you do so before December 31, 2012. There is no indication from what I have researched that benefits for 2013 and beyond will be better, but could certainly be worse. If you do not have benefits then staying healthy will be doubly important. Access to care could be filled with red tape especially if you used specialty treatment. In dentistry we have already seen this with Medicaid.

Those patients who have dental emergency situations could be most affected. My best recommendation is to do everything you can to keep it from happening. Several patients have asked me to design a particular routine just for them to prevent such emergencies.

Feeling good and secure with your health is one of the most important aspects of our life. I am glad to help answer any questions you may have. Please call my office at 214-771-3130, email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
